Wedding card checklist: timeline, wording and quantities
A simple plan for ordering wedding invitations without last-minute stress.
Wedding invitations involve more people and more details than almost any other print job. Use this checklist to keep it calm.
Before you contact the printer
- Final guest count, then add about 10% for family requests and keepsakes.
- Names exactly as they should appear, checked by both families.
- Every function: name, date, time and venue with full address.
- RSVP contact numbers.
- Language(s) for the wording.
A comfortable timeline
- Choose a design and paper first, so the layout can be prepared.
- Allow time for at least one round of proof changes.
- Leave a buffer before the date you plan to start distributing cards.
Proofreading tips
- Have someone from each family read the proof.
- Check spellings of names, dates, days of the week and venue addresses.
- Call any phone numbers printed on the card.
